The NHS Pay Review Body (PRB) has recommended a 1% consolidated pay increase for all NHS Staff on Agenda for Change contracts. The Government has accepted the recommendation and pay for NHS staff will be increased from 1st April 2017.
UNISON is now consulting with local branches to determine how members want to respond.
UNISON nationally have put forward 2 options on how we resources in response to the 1% pay award. The first option is “Earnings Max”, which will see the union pursuing a national campaign to improve member earnings. Thus could include pursuing a national approach to reprofiling band 1 jobs into and 2 (in other words, scraping the lowest band), and regional campaigns focussing on issues such as: challenging downbanding; living wage claims; local recruitment and retention premiums; improved shift patterns and so on.
The second option is to focus resources to a national ballot on industrial action to challenge the 2017/18 pay award.
We now need to hear from our members with their preferred options. The window is quite tight as we need to provide a branch response by the 2nd May 2017. So please contact us via email at michelle.england@nhs.net
Please provide your name, workplace and your preferred option from those listed below:
OPTION A – Earnings maximisation strategy.
OPTION B – National Ballot to challenge the 2017/18 pay award.
Responses will be collated and an update will be posted on the this website we have agreed a branch response.
