Consultation on New Sickness Policy

As you may know, UNISON Pennine Care branch have been involved in negotiations with the Trust over their desire to harmonise the various sickness policies across the organisation into a single Managing Absence at Work policy. This has been a difficult process at times, and we were resolute in our desire to protect the rights of our members. After a lengthy negotiation process with assistance from UNISON regional staff, we reached an agreement with the Trust and the proposed new policy has been under consultation with staff.

The policy is available on the Trust intranet (enter ‘HR Managing Attendance Policy under consultation’ in the ‘Search’ box of the intranet site to find it) and was emailed to all staff as part of the weekly communication bulletin from the Trust. The consultation closes next Friday the 15th April, and we urge all members to review the policy and contact us with any comments. We believe the proposed policy is the best we can achieve via negotiation, and is a significant improvement on early drafts the Trust proposed.
