Statement from UNISON and Pennine care – Band 2 HCA campaign

“UNISON and Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust met in February to discuss the outstanding issues concerning HCSW grading and back pay for duties undertaken by many Band 2 staff at Band 3 levels.

“After consideration and discussion, Pennine Care have supported the proposal to the nominal back pay arrangements in the framework document UNISON members have endorsed elsewhere in Greater Manchester, providing back pay to as far back as April 2018 for HCA staff who have been working at band 3, with a protected period up to September 2021, during which band 2 unsocial hours enhancement rates would be applied.

Pennine Care will provide further feedback soon regarding the planned scope of regrading activity for healthcare assistants (HCSW’s), following further discussions which have been encouraging and constructive. Once the draft framework for the rebanding process and back pay for healthcare assistants has been finalised, UNISON will consult members through an indicative ballot before entering into any agreement.

“We will keep you fully informed of developments moving forward, and hope jointly that we can progress to a resolution by the end of April 2022 if Pennine Care secure board approval.”
