Why not become a UNISON Learning Rep?

Why not become a UNISON Learning Representative?

If you are interested in education and enjoy helping other people, you could join us and help encourage your colleagues return to learning, whilst expanding your own knowledge and skills at the same time.

Any UNISON member can become a union learning rep (ULR) – you don’t have to be involved in the branch already. ULRs help their colleagues identify the skills they need to move on and help them to sort out things like time off to train; loans, grants and funding; or any additional support they need (eg. for dyslexia).

ULRs have a statutory right to take paid time off to undertake the role, which includes time for their own time to train. UNISON provides full training for the ULR role, and you can pick up ideas and support from the branch, the regional learning and organising team, and from national UNISON learning resources. More information on the ULR role is available here.

It’s a great way to be involved and have a positive impact on your workplace and colleagues. If you’re interested or want to know more please contact us by clicking here.
